Make The World Better With a Sweater

Christmas is the time for giving and here at CCC we decided to get into the true spirit of Christmas and take part in Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day 2014. The rules were simple; wear a festive sweater, make a donation, and spread the jumper joy!

Now in its third year, the woolly revolution has already raised over £1.6 million and this year the government is matching every pound donated. Just £2 can buy potentially life-saving antibiotics for three babies whilst £200 can buy enough high energy peanut paste to treat 40 malnourished children for a week. A little most certainly goes a long way.

The team here threw themselves into the task with their usual enthusiasm, and there was a fantastic array of jumpers on show. Even Event Managers that were heading out to run events made sure they got in on the action before they left.

Just to build excitement and add a little competition, we made sure there was a prize for the winning jumper. Our lovely Event Manager Fiona was the lucky winner, with a home made jumper that included lights, tinsel and a stocking with treats for everyone in! A fantastic sweater by all accounts.

We had a great day. We’re always looking for new ways to build motivation and teamwork, and we had a lot of fun whilst contributing to a really worthwhile cause. Team Building in Manchester - Team Adventure

Team Building in London - The Enigma Challenge

There's nothing like London for indoor team building - the venue choices are practically endless, the transport links second to none and the standards of service are among the best in the world. This week we were there to run our Enigma Challenge, an extremely competitive team building event that puts teams against each other in a frantic race against the clock.

Each team is presented with a sealed box and a digital camera. Inside the box, 101 Challenges await, divided into four categories; Brainteasers, Creative, Teamwork and the Enigma Challenges themselves.

Outdoor Team Building in Berkshire - Bushcraft at Sunningdale Park, Ascot

The recent Channel 4 series The Island saw a group of men being left on a desert island to fend for themselves for 13 weeks, finding their own food and water and building their own shelters. The series proved a runaway hit, with applications for the second series reaching 40,000 in a single day. London's West End is a fantastic destination for a treasure hunt - it gets teams out and about amidst some of the most iconic locations in the world, from Leicester Square and Covent Garden to Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square. Our iSpy event takes the idea of a treasure hunt and brings it into the 21st century. Team Building in Windsor - Champion Chariots at Oakley Court

We were recently at Oakley Court in Windsor to run one of our most popular creative team building events - Champion Chariots! The first challenge for the guests is to assemble their chariots from the high quality kit provided - there are no instructions for this so each team must work together to achieve their goal.

Next comes decorating the chariots and the team themselves, before testing the overall design with a vigorous timed obstacle course.

We were recently at the Crazy Bear in Beaconsfield to run our Club Cocktail event - where guests are given expert tutelage in the art of good cocktail making and then let loose on a whole range of spirits, mixers, fruits and syrups to try it for themselves! Treasure Hunts in Edinburgh - The Sherlock Adventure

We recently took to the rolling hills and delightful cobbled streets of Edinburgh for our increasingly popular themed team building treasure hunt - The Sherlock Adventure! At first glance perhaps a strange location for a Sherlock themed event, but look a little closer and you'll see that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Homles' creator, was not only born in Edinburgh but attended the world famous university here too!

Team Building in Hertfordshire - Rule the World at Down Hall

The sun was out in all its glory last week at Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hertfordshire for a high energy, outdoor team building event - Rule the World.

With a 35ft Monopoly style board, a massive variety of physical and mental challenges, a full size bank and jail and a Gamesmaster with a long list of forfeits up his sleeve, Rule the World is non stop entertainment!

Teams roll the dice to make their way around our massive board, challenging other teams to games of skill and teamwork to increase their funds, trying desperately to stay out of jail in the process.

The event climaxes in a frenzied land grab as teams buy and sell countries, charging other teams for landing on their shores and hoping that by the end they’ll have enough of a monopoly to Rule the World!

Team Building Venues: Horwood House, Buckinghamshire

As part of our day to day job we travel all around the country and see a lot of beautiful venues. They might be in city centres, by motorway junctions or in the middle of the countryside, but they each have something that marks them out from the others. In this new series of posts we want to take a look at some of our favourites - venues that due to location, history, staff, facilities, grounds, décor or something entirely different are the best of the best.

First up...

Horwood House, Buckinghamshire

10 miles from Milton Keynes and just outside the small village of Little Horwood, Horwood House is operated by Principal Hayley, predominantly as a conference venue. It has 35 meeting rooms with all the options you would expect from a top rate venue, and can seat up to 220 delegates in their Cook Suite.

The building itself is a beautiful Grade II listed building, built in 1912. It boasts 182 en suite rooms and is perfect for longer conferences - or just when you want to turn that away-day into an away-day-and-night!

It is set in 38 acres of land, much of which is lovingly landscaped, and this is what we particularly love about it. There are almost no events that we can't run at this venue!

Corporate Entertainment in Buckinghamshire - The Ultimate Quiz

We had the pleasure of visiting one of our favourite venues recently, Horwood House near Milton Keynes, to run our Ultimate Quiz event.

The Ultimate Quiz is a great way of winding down after a day of conferencing or meetings, and usually runs throughout a meal.

Teams are given electronic keypads which allow them to answer questions and see the results straight away. This keeps the pace quick, the results real-time and rules out any chance of cheating!

Event Manager Dave Hall said:

"I love a good Ultimate Quiz, and the teams get really into it. The quick fire rounds are tense, but my favourite is always the TV Theme Round - they're always on the tip of your tongue!"
